Learning Photography

The first time I ever picked up a DSLR (digital single reflex camera) was this year and let me tell you, there is nothing easy about it. I decided to take a photography journalism class to fulfill my elective credits for the school of communications at Loyola University Chicago

Let’s just say I did not know what I was getting myself into. I always thought that the process of taking pictures on a “nice” camera involved pointing and shooting. I was very wrong.

The photo taking process is actually quite complicated – at least for me.  I am now two months into the class, and I am just starting to get a grasp on things.

I am starting to get a feel for the importance of lighting, camera settings, and angles. As I have come to learn, photography is difficult, but it can also be very rewarding.

I am just now starting to take pictures that I feel are relatively good, and I must say I find a lot of satisfaction in sharing the final product of a good shoot with my class.

I highly suggest photography to anyone looking for a hobby, it can be difficult, and frustrating, but very enjoyable.
