Food/Coffee Review: Do-Rite Donuts and Chicken

This week I met a friend for Coffee at Do-Rite Donuts and Chicken on 1027 W Addison St. Do-Rite has several locations in the Chicago area. I have been here several times before, and I’ve always enjoyed their food and Coffee. My Friend Nick Plagge, 22 , agrees. However, we both had some slight critiques.

One thing I will say is the service is always great. All the employees I have dealt with have been super kind and that’s always conducive to a good experience.

Nick and I both ordered large cold brews, the cold brews were a Dark Matter Coffee product, a coffee company based out of Chicago. The coffee is great if you enjoy a really strong cold brew. “I don’t know if I’ll be able to finish this,” Plagge said. I agreed, ordering a large may have been a mistake based on the strength of the coffee.

While Do-Rite’s coffee selection is limited, they do have a good selection of food with options for both breakfast and lunch. Plagge and I both ordered breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the Denver, a breakfast sandwich with smoked ham, egg, and tillamook cheddar. Plagge ordered the Bacon Breakfast sandwich – egg, mayo, and tillamook cheddar.

The first few bites are great, but like the coffee, we definitely bit off more than we could chew with these sandwiches. “Yeah this is just too filling for a breakfast meal,” Plagge said.

The sandwiches are very filling, I would only recommend ordering one if you’re really hungry, but splitting one would be the ideal move. The sandwiches themselves were good, but loaded with egg, and cheese on a buttered bread roll.

Overall the food is good and the coffee is good, but you will most likely leave feeling quite full. Unless your starving, or strong coffee is really your thing, I wouldn’t go too far out of your way for Do-Rite Donuts and Chicken.
