What’s so Good About Chess?

This week I am going to stray away from the topic of food and talk about something I’ve recently picked up and can’t put down… Chess.

I’ve always thought chess was a cool game, but never invested anytime into learning the game or the strategy behind it. That was until my friend challenged me to a game on our spring break road trip. Ever since, I’ve been hooked.

At first, I couldn’t win a single online game, but as I played more and more games, I started to understand the basic strategy, and now I play around 20 games a day and occasionally win one or two.

Not only is chess an extremely fun game once you learn it, but it can also be beneficial toward memory, focus, and cognitive skills. There are hundreds of articles describing the benefits of chess.

I highly suggesting creating an online chess account and trying it out. I find I spend much less time on social media these days and more time trying to learn this complicated game.

I know I’ll never be near a “Queens Gambit” caliber of player, but I truly enjoy the game, and I am always looking for new opponents!
